Welcome! I felt led to go into the counseling field and my heart's desire is to come alongside you and support you. I realize that entering into a counseling session with a stranger can be scary and intimidating. I am neither of those! Friends have described me as nurturing, genuine, trustworthy and funny. I believe that humor can often help us handle the extremely serious concerns that you may bring into session.

I have worked with children, adults, families and couples.  Some of the issues we have tackled have included anxiety, depression, anger, grief, motherhood, postpartum, alcohol/drug addiction, infidelity, behavioral issues, work conflict, relationship struggles, sexual abuse, pre-marital and marital concerns, along with personality and career assessments.

As much as I love the children I have counseled, currently my primary focus is to work with women (sorry, guys!).

There is probably nothing you could share with me that I have not dealt with either professionally or personally. I have learned that my journey can be beneficial to you because I can empathize with you. This may mean that I cry with you and sit in the pain for a bit.  I also will love you enough to possibly say, "This isn't healthy for you. Let's find a better way." I also hope that we can laugh through the journey. (Feel free to read my Blog on why I am not judging you.)

I am thoroughly trained to diagnose and treat mental disorders using the DSM 5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).  I take research and effective treatments seriously. I am always working to learn both old and new ways to bring balance into your life. This life we live is always changing but we do not have to be tossed about by our challenges.

In therapy, I typically make use of Person-Centered Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Family Systems Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy. When I have worked with couples I used Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), which is the "gold standard" for couples work. I continue to incorporate themes from EFT into individual counseling.

I enjoy working from a holistic perspective and am concerned about your emotional, relational, spiritual and physical health.  As needed, I will make referrals to various medical professionals to ensure that your needs are thoroughly met.

Please contact me (see the link below for Next Step/Schedule a Session). I will provide you with a link to my electronic health record. This contains my Informed Consent for you to review and sign before our session. You can also enter background information in this secure and confidential online form.

Once we meet, we can determine where you want to go and how to get there. This is a collaborative process and it is tailor made to fit you.
